In 2024, the Russian Federation expects to increase pork exports to more than 310 thousand tons, poultry meat — up to 400 thousand tons
Russia’s export of pork and poultry products by the end of 2024 is planned in volumes of more than 310 thousand tons and more than 400 thousand tons, such estimates were voiced by the Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut.
According to the ministry, plans to export pork and poultry products were discussed at a meeting with producers and industry unions on Thursday.
Oksana Lut recalled the task set by the president — to increase the export of agricultural products by at least one and a half times by 2030 compared to 2021; the figure at current prices should be $55.2 billion.
“To achieve this goal, it is necessary to ensure a significant increase in export volumes this year. In particular, it is necessary to increase the supply of pork and by-products, as well as live pigs to a level of more than 310 thousand tons, and poultry and by-products to over 400 thousand tons,” the report says.
Representatives of industry enterprises expressed their readiness to increase supplies and confirmed their export plans for 2024. The minister, in turn, drew attention to the need to intensify work in target markets and search for new countries to establish exports.
According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution Agroexport under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in 2023, a record 255 thousand tons of pork and by-products were exported from Russia, 66% more than in 2022.
