Russian farmers have received 600 million rubles in insurance payments since the beginning of the year

From the beginning of 2024 to May 28, about 600 million rubles were paid out under agricultural insurance contracts in Russia, and over the past three years — at least 14.5 billion rubles. The President of the National Association of Agriculture Insurers (NAAI) Korney Bizhdov announced this during the round table “Agricultural insurance is a mechanism for protecting food security in a changing climate.”

“Within 5 months of this year, insurers have already paid 600 million rubles. During 2021–2023, at least 14.5 billion rubles were transferred to Russian farmers, which is 2.2 times higher than in the previous 3 years,” noted Korney Bizhdov.

He listed the largest insurance payments for 2023 to one client. Thus, Alfastrakhovanie transferred 1.055 billion rubles in losses due to the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at the sites of a large enterprise located in several regions.

RSHB-Insurance sent 916 million rubles to an enterprise in Voronezh Oblast that suffered as a result of ASF. Also, an agricultural company from Stavropol Krai received insurance payments in the amount of 236 million rubles due to the loss of a grape harvest due to frost.

Rosgosstrakh transferred 185 million rubles to a Stavropol enterprise due to drought in the eastern regions, hail and waterlogging. The Belgorod poultry farm received 218 million rubles from RSHB-Insurance for an insured event.
