The first electronic auctions of breeding animals are being tested in Russia
In Russia, trading of breeding heifers is being launched in the format of an electronic auction. The first auction will take place in June. The pilot project will last until the beginning of next year, then a decision will be made on scaling it up.
“At the first stage, trading will take place 2-3 times a month for an increase. The next auctions are scheduled for June 4 and 5, each of them will last 14 days,” said the EkoNiva group of companies, which launched the pilot project.
The dairy holding will offer buyers pedigree heifers of Holstein, Red-and-White and Simmental breeds from farms in Voronezh Oblast. Lots within the framework of pilot projects will not be fixed and can be formed in sizes from several tens to several hundred animals, depending on the region. In the future, taking into account this experience, a standard lot size will be developed, and it is also planned to expand the geography of sales.
The advantage of electronic trading is the ability to present all livestock available for purchase on one platform, while all relevant documents are checked in advance. Thus, bidding allows all parties to save time, resources and control the sales and procurement processes.
Registration and participation in auctions is free for buyers. Applications regarding participation in the auction are accepted in advance, no later than one day before the start date of the auction, the company clarifies.
