Russian Union of Grain Exporters Report Harvest of Nearly 1.7 Million Tons of Grain and Legumes

The Union of Grain Exporters has begun releasing summary data on the 2024 harvest campaign’s progress. Updates on new crops will be provided as they become part of the ongoing fieldwork reports.

Data from June 20, 2024, indicates that 250,400 tons of wheat have been harvested, yielding an estimate of 52.5 centners per hectare. Barley harvests have reached 1.069 million tons, with yields of 56.8 centners per hectare. In total, 1,681,800 tons of grain and leguminous crops have been threshed, yielding 47.2 centners per hectare. The rapeseed harvest has amounted to 5,700 tons, with a yield of 16.7 centners per hectare.

The Union has recently updated its estimate for the gross grain harvest in the 2024-2025 season to 125.3 million tons, a slight increase from last week’s forecast of 125.1 million tons. These figures include 79.3 million tons of wheat, 18.4 million tons of barley, and 14.9 million tons of corn. A week ago, the gross harvest for these crops was registered at nearly equivalent levels: 79.3 million tons for wheat, 18.6 million tons for barley, and 14.9 million tons for corn. With the commencement of the harvesting season, routine calculations and the publication of consensus forecasts have been temporarily suspended.

Based on information from regional authorities, the new season’s harvest has commenced in the Rostov and Krasnodar regions. Additionally, grain harvesting is now underway in the Kherson region.
