In Russia, crops on 140 thousand hectares were destroyed due to frosts

As a result of frosts throughout the country, crops on 140 thousand hectares, or 1% of the cultivated area, were destroyed. Crops on another 500 thousand hectares were damaged. This is mainly winter wheat. Such data was announced by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Andrei Razin at an online meeting with regional bodies of the agro-industrial complex.

“Every year we have emergencies in certain regions associated with drought, prolonged heavy rains, etc. In general, this is a normal situation. The most affected agricultural producers need assistance. A reseeding plan has already been formed. But the main thing is that the structure of sown areas must be preserved,” Interfax quotes Razin.

In Orenburg Oblast, a state of emergency was not introduced due to frosts, since the crops were not damaged. A regional emergency regime in agriculture has been introduced in Voronezh Oblast, Volgograd Oblast, Lipetsk Oblast, Tambov Oblast and Oryol Oblast.

The day before, the new Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut said that farmers are fully provided with seeds and financing for replanting, and the ministry will pay special attention to ensuring timely payments to agricultural insurers in regions affected by frost.
