Market Analysts Assess Potato, Sunflower, and Sorghum Demand for H1’24

Potatoes, sunflowers, vegetables, grains, and grasses have ranked as the top five most demanded seeds on the Russian Agricultural Bank’s marketplace for the first half of 2024.

According to the data received, farmers have shown the greatest interest in potato seeds, with this category comprising 38% of the total demand. The peak of this demand was observed in March and April. The most sought-after varieties include ‘Red Scarlet’, ‘Resource CE’, and ‘Innovator’.

Sunflowers rank second with 17% of the total demand, followed by vegetable seeds at 12%. Among these, tomatoes, sweet melons, and spinach are the favorites.

Grain seeds are ranked fourth, accounting for 9% of the overall demand. The top five is rounded out by fodder grasses at 7%, with sorghum being the preferred choice. It is most commonly ordered by livestock farmers for food production or to be utilized as biofuel.
