In May 2024, Russian companies exported 180,300 tons of peas worth $86 million to India, marking a 1.4-fold increase in both volume and value compared to April.

As a result, Russia accounted for 61% of all Indian pea imports, which reached $137 million in May. Turkey ranked second with 13%, followed by Spain with 10.5%.

To reduce the price of legumes, the Indian government established duty-free imports of yellow peas at the end of last year. This policy remained in effect until June 30, 2024.

According to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia supplied approximately 775,000 tons of peas in the first quarter of this year, which is three times more than during the same period last year.
